The effectiveness of EMDR in a child guidance center
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) are examined, focusing on evaluating EMDR as a tool for child therapists. Topics include a definition of EMDR, which includes the use of bilateral stimulation to dissolve distressing memories; the development of EMDR by F. Shapiro in 1989; experiments in which EMDR was added to routine treatment; and conclusions that doubt the efficacy of EMDR but do not rule out its usefulness completely.
