Matching: its acquisition and generalization
Article Abstract:
Discriminated key-pecking responses in pigeons that were first acquired using a multiple schedule that minimized the reinforcement of switching operants is presented. The discriminative stimulus associated with the higher reinforcement frequency declines as the concurrent stimuli become more similar and other operants notably switching are acquired and generalize to stimuli.

Within-trial contrast: pigeons prefer conditioned reinforcers that follow a relatively more rather than a less aversive event
Article Abstract:
The article presents the within-trial contrast model in which the value of conditioned reinforcer depends on the changes in value. The preference for positive stimuli results from the delay to reinforcement.
