A Symposium: Bridging scholarship: The Indian women's movement
Article Abstract:
The purpose of a symposium was to share with scholars mainly in the western world the information about the Indian women's movement created by the activists and scholars in India. Thus, the main aim was to draw attention to the scholarship on Indian women's movement created within the country, but since various other issues cropped up while forming this symposium the main purpose of having this seemed difficult.

The intersection of labor movement activism and sociology
Article Abstract:
The election of 'New Voice' John Sweeney as head of the AFL-CIO, (American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations) is attributed to the demise of union political power, density and workers' quality of life in the United States. Reactions to the 'New Voice' victory by a union activist and labor leader are detailed, along with an overview of the role of sociology in labor movement activism.
