Probability as a psychological distance: Construal and preferences
Article Abstract:
The present study is to substantiate whether probability, like space and time, instantiates psychological distance. It is found that low probability events are perceived as psychologically more distant than the high probability ones which can pose a challenge to normative decision-making and also better enable individuals to discriminate between what is more, or less important.

Distorted distance estimation induced by a self-relevant national boundary
Article Abstract:
The possibility that the categorization of self versus not-self could distort visual estimation of distance is explored through six experiments. These experiments demonstrated that equal distances are sometimes perceived as unequal when meaningful boundaries, in the form of national borders on a map, are the backdrop against which distance judgments are made.

The substitutability of external control and self-control
Article Abstract:
The experiments are conducted in order to investigate the ways in which self-control efforts to undertake the activity are affected by real or primed externally imposed controls. The findings suggest that externally imposed control and self control are substitutable means for pursuing activities with long term benefits and short term costs are presented.
