Progress and issues in the implementation of the 1984 out-of-home care protection amendment
Article Abstract:
The implementation of out-of-home child protection programs by state child protection services (CPS) in different states was studied to determine the committment of various states to prevention of child abuse. Surveys of CPS post-placement activities and out-of-home programs revealed the improvement and implementation status of various states regarding child abuse. State amendments and standardized procedures are required for licensing, state welfare programs and placement and out-of-home protection.

Personality disorders of the respondents were determined by the use of the Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory (MMPI). Findings revealed the subjects rated by the MMPI as seriously disturbed did not develop any feelings of empathy with their victims and were more likely to drop out of the program.

Sexual abuse trauma among professional women: validating the Trauma Symptom Checklist (TSC-40)
Article Abstract:
The usefulness of the Trauma Symptom Checklist (TSC-40) in measuring the long-term psychological effects of child sexual abuse in professional women is tested. The TSC-40 scale is found to be reliable and distinguishes with accuracy between sexually abused and non-abused subjects. Molested women report more anxiety, depression, dissociation, sexual problems, sleep disturbance and post-traumatic symptoms. Most are also likely to end up being divorced.
