Strengths of gay male youth: an untold story
Article Abstract:
A survey of 77 gay male youths has revealed levels of self-esteem higher than that of youth overall. Social support from bisexual, lesbian and gay peers was equal to that of other youths, although support from parents and non-gay peers was significantly lower. Some 89.6% of respondents identified a preadolescent feeling of difference at an average age of 7.2, and associated the feeling with homosexuality at an average age of 12.2.
