Article Abstract:
A study traces some of the central ideas of the fifteenth century social scientist Ibn Khaldun into the writings of more modern classical social theorists, particularly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Theorizing from within: Ibn Khaldun and his political culture
Article Abstract:
The fifteenth century social scientist Ibn Khaldun was not only an Islamic thinker, he was an Arab thinker whose views about Arab political culture have special currency in modern times. An important point to consider is that the Western tendency to emphasize the similarities between the historiography of Ibn Khaldun and that of many Western analysts obscures the distinctive style of Khaldun's own form of theorizing.
