The care of AIDS patients in rural Zambia: a case study in the North Western Province
Article Abstract:
Mission hospitals have been rendering yeoman service in the care and treatment of AIDS patients in the North Western Province of Zambia. The spread of the AIDS epidemic to the remote interior of the province is complicated by gruelling poverty and lack of essential medical services. Mission hospitals equipped with outpatient services offer medical treatment to AIDS victims together with love, compassion and support. However, professional counselling services for AIDS problems are severely hindered by persisting social issues and limited resources.
