The cultural veneer of 'Star Trek.'
Article Abstract:
'Star Trek' can be described as a well-known television series that has successfully adopted cultural sophistication. As a purveyor of popular Western culture, 'Star Trek' has created characters and made use of lines and series titles that were lifted from some of the most important literary documents of all time. These include not only the works of Shakespeare, the Bible and Greco-Roman mythology but other English literary works as well. Such an adoption of cultural refinement and depth has enabled 'Star Trek' to bridge the gap between the modern world and the fictional 23rd-century in which it is set.

Love on a bun: how McDonald's won the burger wars
Article Abstract:
Analysis of McDonald's television advertisement broadcast in the 1980s confirms that familiar images were used to depict McDonald's as a desirable source of goodness and love. The advertisement justified and welcomed the changes in the family, consequently shaping the restructuring of this institution. The projection of idealistic values in the guise of beautiful images hid the fundamentally commercial interests of McDonald's, which are realized not only as a marketing plan but as political agenda.
