The limitations of a negotiation model for perimenopausal women
Article Abstract:
A transactional model is presented to depict the relationship between a physician and a pre-menopausal patient. Unlike the asymmetrical model which shows a powerful physician and a powerless patient, the transactional model portrays the negotiation locus between the physician's knowledge and the patient's knowledge, and is applied to the strategies physicians use to encourage hormone replacement therapy.
