Validating the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptom Scale with persons who have severe mental illnesses
Article Abstract:
The effects of stressful and traumatic events that often result in increased emotional distress and worsens psychiatric symptoms having poorer treatment outcome with increased risk for additional trauma are discussed. It is seen that the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptom Scale (PSS) shows a 2-factor structure and stress for high-risk behaviors and drinking to cope with the negative emotions that mediate the relationship between subjective distress from trauma and other symptoms.

Assessment of youthful problem drinkers: Validating the Drinking Context Scale (DCS-9) with freshman first offenders
Article Abstract:
The study of 389 university freshman cited by the administration for underaged drinking examines gender and three drinking contexts differential predictors of personal problems and social problems that respondents attribute to the own alcohol use. Results demonstrated that more than one third of these respondents reported at least one personal problem, which they attribute to the use of alcohol in the previous year, and about half reported at least one personal problem.

Validating the alcohol use disorders identification test with persons who have a serious mental illness
Article Abstract:
The internal consistency reliability, concurrent validity, and receiver operating characteristics of the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) with 149 mentally ill adults are examined in community programs. Results suggest that the AUDIT is a reliable screening tool and shows good concurrent validity with other measures of alcohol abuse and psychosocial difficulties.
