The new breed dive computers
Article Abstract:
Eight new nitrox-compatible dive computer models have been assessed. These are the Aeris 300 G, Aeris Atmos Pro, Aeris Savant, Dive Rite NiteK3, Sherwood Scuba AWAC-1, Suunto Vyper, UBS Chameleon and the UBS Nitrox Pro2. These brands have nitrox capability, have PC interfaces, employ push buttons, have user-adjustable no-decompression limits (NDL) and use graphs with color highlighting. Each model has been evaluated in 13 dive situations ranging from a single dive of 40 ft to the maximum of the NDL and on a repetitive multilevel dive.

The truth about ScubaLab
Article Abstract:
ScubaLab is an independent testing contractor hired by publishing firm Rodale Inc to test scuba equipment for the recreational dive community. Several criteria were specified to ensure that testing was objective and impartial. Among them are the requirements that tests should be be extensive and cover technical and practical matters, evaluations should be both subjective and objective and should be repeatable and above all, should be useful to divers.
