Expose or smear? The Burt affair
Article Abstract:
British psychologist Cyril Burt was famous for establishing psychology as an applied science and won recognition and awards for his efforts. However, in 1976, Burt was accused of fraud for inventing data on his studies on the basis of intelligence. Writer Leslie S. Hearnshaw attacked Burt in his biographical book saying Burt had a disturbed personality and suffered from Meniere's disease. Two scholars, Robert B. Joynson and Ronald Fletcher, came out with their own books in defense of Burt.

Breaking the age barrier
Article Abstract:
Employers discriminate against candidates over 50 years old although they can offer valuable experience. The argument that they are too inflexible to learn new techniques is unsubstantiated. Applicants can demonstrate their capability by acquiring new skills. Older applicants may benefit from a workforce expansion. However, resentment caused by redundancy should be overcome and job applications should be commensurate with previous experience.
