The government has encouraged collaborative finance through fund matching schemes. Museum commercial ventures include admission charges and retailing operations. Many projects have been financed through fund-raising ventures and private donations.

Heritage under threat
Article Abstract:
UK heritage sites are threatened despite their proven financial contribution to the leisure industry. Twentieth century development has resulted in demolition of many heritage buildings. High repair costs have resulted in the deterioration of many historic properties. Fluctuating attendance and competition from other leisure facilities have also had a financial impact on heritage sites.

Cultural Pursuit: the importance of culture in the campaign for a healthier nation is no longer in dispute
Article Abstract:
The Governments's objective to improve the health of the population is greatly assisted by leisure and cultural services. Whilst some people may be surprised by the involvement of leisure services little is known or reported of Cultural Services assistance in the planning and execution of many health promotion schemes.
