Play on words
Article Abstract:
Playground apparatus manufacturers are creating more inventive solutions for children's playgrounds in the United Kingdom so that a greater choice of products is now available to the playground leisure operator. Aspects such as maintenance, service quality, the financial security of the manufacturer, product standards, design and installation have to be considered carefully when products are being purchased. The Association of Play Industries was set up in 1984 to ensure that quality and high standards are achieved and maintained.

The art of maintenance
Article Abstract:
Synthetic surfaces require less maintenance than natural surfaces but three levels of attention are essential for optimum condition. All synthetic surfaces benefit from daily sweeping. Regular detailed inspection should prevent serious problems developing. Major overhaul may include replacing worn areas. Maintenance of sand-filled and non sand-filled synthetic turf aims to reverse the effects of use. Maintenance of rubber surfaces aims to reduce and redistribute wear. Non sand-filled synthetic turf requires least maintenance.
