Russell Stone
Article Abstract:
Scottish & Newcastle Breweries PLC Brand Operations Manager Russell Stone describes the company's move into the leisure sector with its City Limits concept. The company's first City Limits complex in Romford, England, took over an existing building in 1996, but two further complexes planned for Milton Keynes and Croydon will be in new buildings. City Limits focuses on food service but also incorporates a bowling alley, health club, amusements room, and bar with pool tables and live entertainment. The Romford venue is attracting around 50% more customers than anticipated.

Design of the times
Article Abstract:
UK leisure market designers have concluded the multiplex development schemes which have sprung up throughout the country are failing to attract the large number of people originally planned for. The inclusion of retail and food outlets increases the number of visits, making such complexes ideal developments for city and town centres. Complexes should be built to a high quality design, which will benefit all parties involved from management to end-users.
