A role model for the Western world
Article Abstract:
The City Art Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, is currently holding an exhibition entitled 'Hong Kong: City of Tomorrow.' This looks at the way in which high density living has been carefully and sensitively handled in Hong Kong, where land is in very short supply. Public parks still account for 40% of the land space in Hong Kong, while only 20% is urbanised. Under the Metroplan initiative, it is planned to increase the urban area from 6,500 ha to 8,600 ha, thus cutting the population density.
