Action at the edges in cancer research
Article Abstract:
The very dynamic atmosphere that currently exists in cancer research is attributable to the growing realization that cancer mechanisms are both diverse and unifying and that this apparent contradiction can be resolved, according to Daniel Louvard, research director of the Institut Curie in Paris, France. It is now known that the individual disease profile results from a finite number of malfunctioning biological processes relating to each other in a combinatorial manner in a malignant clone. Cancer research will now only make significant progress if there is improved communication among the participating disciplines.
