Coherent control of macroscopic quantum states in a single-Cooper-pair box
Article Abstract:
A nanometre-scale superconducting electrode linked to a reservoir by a Josephson junction is a single-Cooper-pair box. Quantum oscillations in a single-Cooper-pair box have been observed. A short voltage pulse via a gate electrode controls the coherent quantum state evolution, and modifies the energies of the two charge states. The result superposition of the two charge states is detected by a tunnelling current.

Demonstration of conditional gate operation using superconducting charge qubits
Article Abstract:
The conditional gate operation using a pair of coupled superconducting charge qubits is demonstrated. Using a pulse technique, different input states and their amplitude transformed by controlled-NOT (C-NOT) gate operation is presented.

Single artificial-atom lasing
Article Abstract:
A lasing effect is shown with a single artificial atom, a Josephson-junction charge qubit, embedded in a superconducting resonator. The artificial-atom masers can be used as on-chip microwave sources and microwave amplifiers.
