Very small arrays
Article Abstract:
Recent advances in photosynthetic antennas, which mimic the photosynthetic energy-conversion process, could revolutionize solar energy technology. The innovative methods are based on covalently bonded organic pigments that absorb light and transport their excitation energy to a central chromophore. In one approach, a dendritic array of phenylacetylene chromophores absorbs light to be transported to a perylene moiety. Another approach utilizes porphyrin molecules linked via ethyne bridges.

Liposomes within liposomes
Article Abstract:
It is possible to attach lipid rolls to vesicle aggregates by biotin-streptavidin linkages as a way of achieving self-assembly of many-compartment liposomes with relatively high encapsulation efficiency. This is an effective way of encapsulating particles such as nucleic acids and proteins into liposomes. Furthermore, it allows vesicles with different functionalities to be combined. This approach may eventually prove useful in the treatment of cancer.
