Male plumage, paternal care and reproductive success in yellow warblers, Dendroica petechia
Article Abstract:
A study on the mating behavior of yellow warblers shows that females observe the behavioral features of males to assess potential parental contribution. Male chest stripping is found to be an unreliable indicator of paternal care. Paternal care also varies between individuals. Reductions in male help are not compensated for by the females, resulting in the reduction of nestling growth. Paternal care is important to female fitness as higher post-fledging survival of heavier nestlings is observed as paternal care increases.

The functions of multiple singing modes: experimental tests in yellow warblers, Dendroica petechia
Article Abstract:
The two key predictions which is made by the hypothesis that the two singing modes of wood warblers are specialized for distinct, sex specific functions is discussed. The responses of male and female yellow warblers to the two singing modes produced by males are examined.

Paternity and parental care in the black-throated blue warbler, Dendroica caerulescens
Article Abstract:
Research describing the relationship between paternity and parental care in black-throated blue warblers is presented. It is shown that older males may adjust the feeding rate of nestlings according to the level of paternity.
