Immunoaffinity concentration and purification of waterborne enteric viruses for detection by reverse transcriptase PCR
Article Abstract:
An immunoaffinity technique efficiently detects waterborne enteric viruses. The method involves indirect antibody capture of intact viruses and release of virion genomic RNA followed by reverse transcriptase PCR amplification and oligoprobe hybridization. The viruses are concentrated from huge volumes of water using 1MDS filters and washed with 1% beef extract-0.05 M glycine (BE/G). The BE/G eluate is concentrated and purified using polyethylene glycol (PEG) precipitation, ProCipitate precipitation, and then another PEG precipitation.

Effects of seeding procedures and water quality on recovery of Cryptosporidium ooycsts from stream water by using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency method 1623
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency method 1623 is largely utilized to check the water sources and to check the supply of drinking water for cryptosporidium ooycsts. The revival between the two seeding processes was very much interconnected and not so distinctly different, but the revival with the help of altered oocysts was as good as the revival by traditional seeding method.

Concentration and detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts in surface water samples by method 1622 using ultrafiltration and capsule filtration
Article Abstract:
A hollow-fiber ultrafilter system can detect more Cryptosporidium oocysts in water than the capsule filter system used in the EPA's method 1622. The ultrafilter system can be incorporated into method 1622 and is more efficient and reliable.
