Human Upf proteins target an mRNA for nonsense-mediated decay when bound downstream of a termination codon
Article Abstract:
Results show that fidelity of gene expression mediated by mRNA surveillance in eukayotes is achieved by getting rid of aberrant mRNAs with premature termination codons through nonsense-mediated decay process. Data indicate that human Upf complex initiates the process at mRNA exon-exon junctions that triggers nonsense-mediated decay in the cytoplasm.

The transcription factor associated Ccr4 and Caf1 proteins are components of the major cytoplasmic mRNA deadenylase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the major pathways on the mRNA turnover in eukaryotes which initiate with the poly(A) tail shortening. Results indicate that CCR4 and CAF1 encode the major cytoplasmic deadenylase components in yeast and that there may be a link between mRNA synthesis and turnover.
