Iterative triangulation : a theory development process using existing case studies
Article Abstract:
The use of case studies in theory-building empirical research in operations management can be strengthened by employing iterative triangulation on the results of the case studies. Iterative triangulation involves the systematic iterations between literature review, case evidence and intuition, which allows an overlay to form, enabling the researcher new insights into factors which increases the validity of the case study in regards to a specific subject. This is due to the action of the iteration process to elicit the assumptions and conditions present in each case study and narrowing the factors through a conjecture selection criteria.

Building operations management theory through case and field research
Article Abstract:
An increasing body of knowledge in operations research has been developed with the use of case and field studies. The preference for case and field studies over the traditional methods of optimization, simulation and statistical modeling stems from the high level of generalizability that can be achieved from the results of such case or field studies. The validity of case and field studies can be strengthened by applying more rigorous statistical analysis on the studies, which will minimize the deviations of measurements.
