Handelsbanken raises its offer for Fokus Bank
Article Abstract:
Svenska Handelsbanken AB of Sweden upped its offer for Fokus Bank ASA of Norway, which is higher than the bid earlier made by Den Danske Banks AS of Denmark. In the growing bidding fight, Handelsbanken made a bid of 80 Norwegian kroner ($10.74) per share, which valued Fokus at around 5.81 billion kroner ($779.7 million). Prior to this, Den Danske Bank unveiled an unsolicited offer of 77 kroner per share, which was more than the two-week old offer of 70 kroner a share made by Handelsbanken. Den Danske Bank said it would make a counter-offer while Handelsbanken is said to be alert in making the next bid.
