Kirin still dominates the Japanese beer market but is losing market share to domestic competitors. Kirin has been reluctant to sell its beers through supermarket and discount stores and has been slow to invest in canning technology. More consumers prefer light and dry beer from other breweries.

Utah's holy war
Article Abstract:
Wasatch Beers of Park City, UT, has sparked controversy with the advertising of its Polygamy Porter beer. In Oct 2001, the Utah Dept of Alcoholic Beverage Control said that the use of religion in advertising would be banned, but it has since abandoned the rule.
