More than a spot buy
Article Abstract:
Specialty channels have proven throughout their 16-year existence in Canada that they are more than a spot buy. They provide precise targeting for a moderate cost that is less than 50% of what the networks charge. They also provide added value or enhancements. They are more open than newrrks to adding value to buys and it is willing to do things differently for clients such as creating contests and events for them. However, specialties should be careful not to turn themselves into conventional TV, since some of them are already charging for value added staff that used to be free.

BBDO wins Ont. lottery $15M jackpot
Article Abstract:
BBDO Toronto has won the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp's (OLGC) Lotto 6/49 account, beating out Palmer Jarvis DDB and MacLaren McCann, also of Toronto. Based on its performance in the 6/49 account, BBDO was also awarded the OLGC's Bingo and Encore accounts. The three accounts are valued at about C$12-C$15 million in billings. Winning the accounts is good news to BBDO after losing the C$17-million Bank of Scotia account and laying off employees because of DaimlerChrysler AG's consolidation of its operations.
