Sides of a triangle
Article Abstract:
Cambodian PM Hun Sen, Thai Foreign Minister Prasong Soonsiri and the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Cambodia Yasushi Akashi have divergent views on the Cambodian elections. Hun Sen believes that checkposts should be established along the Thai border. Akashi disagrees, but holds the Thai government responsible for stopping logging in Cambodia and importing petroleum products to it. Hun Sen, Akashi and Prasong agree that Cambodian elections would be meaningless without Khmer Rouge participation, but Akashi insists on Khmer rouge acceptance of the Paris accord by Jan 31, 1993.

Article Abstract:
Many observers are cautiously optimistic about Thailand's economic prospects. This country seems to have distanced itself from others affected by the economic crisis in Asia, and its recovery programme appears to be reaping benefits. However, the government acknowledges that there are still many challenges to be addressed. It is likely that some businesses will collapse, bringing rising unemployment. Furthermore, the government must implement clear and effective policies if confidence in the economy is to be maintained.
