Managers' pay climbs at a slower pace as cities get cozier
Article Abstract:
Salaries of managers in China continue to increase but at a slower rate compared to previous years. The salary increase in China has depreciated from 25% to 15% based on employee's gross pay. Experts believe that one of the reasons why salaries increase at a slower rate is that firms have found out that offering such increase is no longer plausible. Some of the benefits being given to expatriate employees also face reduction which include location premium and housing allowances.

They cited that China may eventually face competition problems with other Southeast Asian countries should the turmoil end up. Further, China must be able to match packages offered by Indonesia and Malaysia in order to attract foreign investors.
