The Keating years: Australian voters give their prime minister the sack
Article Abstract:
Australia's prime minister Paul Keating did many of the right things for his country, which made important advances during 13 years of Labor leadership. Ultimately, he could not see the trade and other barriers at home and could not bring himself to liberate business and encourage a more dynamic society, but he did encourage engagement with Asian neighbors, including a military alliance with Indonesia and the launch of the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. He also made vital changes as treasurer.

Milton Keynes at twenty-five
Article Abstract:
Milton Keynes was twenty-five years old on 23 January 1992. It was built on 22,000 acres of previously rural land, and now has a population of 151,000. 57,000 homes have been built and 66,000 jobs have arrived. Milton Keynes prides itself on being energy efficient, and 15 million trees have been planted. There are calls for more public transport and private space, but the city's economy is healthy and quality of life is described as good.
