Youthful flings
Article Abstract:
Research has revealed that multinational corporations increasingly are having difficulty retaining their brightest young managers, who are leaving large corporations in order to set up their own companies since large corporations do not allow expression of an entrepreneurial spirit. Many bright young managers desire autonomy, decision making, and increased rewards, and are less motivated by job security, career progression, and recognition from management. The London Business School is setting up a program, the LBS Entrepreneurs Network, that encourages new graduates with MBAs to become entrepreneurs. The program will facilitate the networking of students, businesspeople, professionals, and companies interested in start-up companies.

Remuneration to fit the culture
Article Abstract:
The success of international business partnerships, ventures, and mergers is dependent on the ability of each business partner to integrate its business culture into the new corporate structure and adapt to the existing business environment. Employee rewards should be compatible with each partner's corporate culture. Cultural harmony of these joint businesses in the international business scene is hampered by incompatible dispositions, expectations, and working habits of the two business partners. This is reflected in the fact that 60% of joint ventures, acquisitions, and mergers on a global scale have been unsuccessful in generating shareholder value.
