Engineering the Fc region of immunoglobulin G to modulate in vivo antibody levels
Article Abstract:
The Fc region of a human immunoglobulin G (lgG) is engineered to generate a mutated antibody that modulates the concentrations of endogenous IgGs in vivo. Results reveal that an IgG whose Fc region is engineered to bind with higher affinity and reduced pH dependence to FcRn potently inhibits FcRn-IgG interactions and induces a rapid decrease IgG levels in mice.

Synthetic biomaterials as instructive extracellular microenvironments for morphogenesis in tissue engineering
Article Abstract:
New generations of synthetic biomaterials are being developed at a rapid pace for use as three-dimensional extracellular microenvironments both for therapeutic applications and basic biological studies. The restoration of structure and function of damaged or dysfunctional tissues can be facilitated by the guidance provided by biomaterials.

It takes a village to grow a tissue
Article Abstract:
The future of tissue engineering is explored due to shortages of donor tissues and organs and the increasing demand for tissue repair from an aging population. Tissue engineering aims to grow tissue replacements by combining cells and matrices under defined laboratory conditions.
