VeriFone Inc. has announced its plan to buyback over 800,000 shares in open-market transactions last Feb. 26, 1996. However, insider trading activities amounting to 102,072 shares valued between $36.50 to $45 per share have also been reported. Some of these insiders include the VP for Internet Commerce Division Roger Bertman, VP for Chipcard Programs and Products Michael J. Shade, EVP John Hinds, VP for Human Resources Katherine Beall and VP for Technical Operations William L. Smith.

Reports that America Online Inc. will form an alliance with some major computer companies, including AT and T, Netscape and Microsoft, have caused its stock prices to increase. Observers believe that stock prices can reach as much as $100 per share as the number of eventual subscribers near the 10 million mark. However, insider sales of over 750,000 shares in Dec. 1995 and 414,900 shares in Feb. 1996 have been reported despite the climbing stock prices.

Seven AT&T insiders exercised their options for 281,403 shares in Oct. and Nov. 1995. A total of 189,003 shares were sold in the open market, with the rest exercised fro cash. This is considered as the highest level of sales ever for the company, which is no surprise given the rallying of its shares in the aftermath of announcements of the much-expected restructuring.
