Gloves off as bill enters round three
Article Abstract:
The Labour government faces renewed pressure for changes to a number of elements of its higher education bill, despite the bill passing through the Commons in a dramatic vote on 27 January 2004. Rebel Labour MPs have expressed their confidence that they will be able to overturn the five-vote margin that the bill passed in order to remove variable fees at a later stage of debate over the bill and universities are preparing to lobby the government about changes to the remit of the Office for Fair Access.
