Granting last wishes
Article Abstract:
Around 25% of 3,696 people who died in 1990 had expressed a desire to die sooner, according to a survey of relatives, although less than 4% specified euthanasia. The level of dependency played a more crucial role in the decision to request euthanasia than pain. Some feel that relatives may not provide reliable information, with the dying patient possibly not suffering as much as is perceived by onlookers. Joint publisher of the survey Chris Seale, a lecturer in the sociology of medicine, says the relatives' views are crucial as they are unavoidably involved in euthanasia decisions.

Rights of passage on ocean of words
Article Abstract:
The Copright Licensing Agency is an association of publishers and authors, and it has campaigned against the ilegal copying of written work in British universities. Such copying is a type of theft which deprives publishers and writers of the funds to produce further work. Librarians tend to know more about copyright law than anyone else in universities. The Publishers Association has been discussing this issue with librarians through the Jont Information Systems Committee, and aims to tackle the problem with the help of librarians.
