Sega of America has developed an adventure game for its Dreamcast system called Shenmue. The game, an $80 million prospect developed over four years, is richly interactive and detailed. The user follows Ryo Hazuki, a martial-arts expert, who is on the trail of his father's murderer with limited time and a certain amount of money to spend. Ryo's home, the stores, karaoke bar, streets and even weather in the game are full of interactive details the player can enjoy or bypass.

In Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future, developed by Appaloosa Interactive, the player guides a dolphin on different underwater missions. The look and sound of the game effectively give the player the sensation of being beneath and on the surface the ocean. The Ecco dolphin figure can be manipulated to perform somersaults and other stunts. The user is as likely to have as much fun swimming Ecco around his ocean as they will guiding him to save the world.
