Buster Merryfield

Actor Buster Merryfield worked in a bank before becoming a PT and jungle warfare instructor with the Army during the second world war. He also served as an entertainments officer, but returned to banking after the war. He became a bank manager, but took early retirement at the age of 57. He then played a number of minor roles with a repertory company. He was spotted by a BBC representative while playing in a pantomime, and went on to take a high-profile role in 'Only Fools and Horses.'

Brian Glover

Actor Brian Glover began his working life as a teacher of French and English in Barnsley, England. His first acting role was in the film 'Kes,' which was based on the book written by Barry Hines, a fellow teacher. He returned to teaching for two years, and was then selected for a role in 'Bequest to the Nation,' Terence Rattigan's play about Nelson. He developed a flourishing acting career, and was also in great demand for commercials because of his attractive voice.

Robert Allen

Actor Robert Allen first became involved in acting while studying at Dartmouth College, undertaking some stunt work in the 1926 film 'The Quarterback' because of his talent for boxing and polo. He was signed by Warner Bros as a contract player in 1931, and made his Broadway debut in 1933 in Arthur Hoerl's 'A Few Wild Oats.' He became particularly well known for his series of Texas Ranger films, the best of which were 'The Reckless Ranger' and 'Ranger Courage.'
