Article Abstract:
Educationalist, campaigner, writer and poet Danilo Dolci studied architecture at Milan University, Italy, and then settled in Sicily. He undertook detailed investigations into living conditions there, and his work is the main source of information about the world of the Sicilian Mafia in the post-second world war period. He wrote a series of books in the 1950s and 1960s which presented the terrible conditions of the Sicilian countryside in graphic detail.
