Future, what future? The idea gives me goose-flesh
Article Abstract:
Croat Slavenka Drakulic writes essays and journalistic articles about the 'new independent Croatia' which are published abroad, but in her own country she is denigrated. Her ambition is to write fiction; she has written two novels, 'Holograms of Fear'and 'Marble Skin.' The new government in Croatia rewrites history and intellectuals are afraid to object. Drakulic, a feminist, and other journalists in Croatia, were sacked. A Croatian magazine falsely accused her of plotting against a Croatian writers' organisation congress.

Tiananmen: the untold story
Article Abstract:
Foreign media coverage of the events in Tiananmen in 1989 failed to portray the views of ordinary Chinese people, according to filmmaker Carma Hinton, who grew up in China. Her background made her uniquely aware of the fact that ordinary Chinese people had many different views on how to institute change. She was initially reluctant to make her own film, but was determined to ensure that the views of ordinary Chinese people were aired.
