Has Geoffrey Robinson's Tuscan villa broken the rules of the House?
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom Paymaster-General Geoffrey Robinson owns a large late 18th- or early 19th-century villa near San Gimignano in Tuscany, Italy. The estate includes a chapel, which has recently been reconsecrated, a 45ft swimming pool and a former monastery. It is thought that the entire property is now worth around 1.5 million pounds sterling, compared with the price of around 300,000 pounds sterling paid by Robinson in 1992. A subtle change of Tone
Article Abstract:
The UK Labour party has continued to handle its public relations work very well in the initial stages of the new Labour administration. However, subtle efforts have been made to create a new image for Prime Minister Tony Blair. Before he was elected, he was shown as a family man but his family was very much in the background. Now, he is being portrayed in almost presidential manner, and his family has become more noticeable. Blair has clearly shifted from being an opposition leader to being a statesman.

Mixed reaction to Dearing
Article Abstract:
Chmn of the Schools Curriculum and Assessment Authority Sir Ron Dearing recommended a narrower curriculum, simpler tests and abolition of the 10-level assessment scale in his review of the national curriculum. All 10 subjects will be reviewed. General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers Doug McAvoy stated that formal tests would be educationally flawed and unhelpful; teachers would not accept league tables. However, the Association of Teachers and Lectureres praised the report.
