Here is the news: protect your kids (mixed views on impact of news coverage on children)
Article Abstract:
Most parents are very keen to protect their children from television news coverage of terrible events such as bombings. However, some experts believe that this is not necessarily the best approach. As long as the parent feels that the child is mature enough to understand the situation, and as long as very horrific images are not shown, then the child will probably not be distressed. Seeing the news can be regarded as an important way of teaching children to feel sympathy with others.
