I delivered my speech - and a shower of saliva in their laps
Article Abstract:
Playwright Stephen Poliakoff feels that he merely followed his instincts when deciding to become a playwright. He had initially wanted to be an actor, but his early acting experiences were very demoralizing, as it became clear that he had no talent at all. He became established as a playwright at an early age, and this gained him the respect of his peers. He feels that mavericks were encouraged in the late 1960s, when he was developing his playwriting abilities, but that today young people are encouraged to be much more focused.

'My first miracle was that I suddenly became musical.' (Errol Brown tells of becoming songwriter)(Revelations)
Article Abstract:
Errol Brown felt that he was experiencing a miracle when he realized in 1968 at the age of 20 that he could really become a songwriter. He believes that he was guided by his mother, who had recently died, and that the emotion of her death sparked off his musical talent. He formed Hot Chocolate with musician Tony Wilson, and gradually began singing as well as writing songs. He has now lost touch with Wilson, but still feels very grateful to him for establishing him in a career in music.
