Live gospel music has started to become very popular in the UK, boosted by the emergence of a number of new gospel acts. These acts perform to a very high standard, and are very successful in encouraging extensive audience involvement. Members of the audience are encouraged to speak to each other and to join in the singing, and there is an extremely positive atmosphere. Some acts use hip hop and rap sounds, while others take a more cautious approach.

There are many positive aspects to being a featured artist, according to singer Jocelyn Brown. She has been in great demand as a session singer for many years, but is now trying to gain a stronger reputation in her own right. Her album 'The Hits,' which is to be released on Sep 21, 1998, on INCredible Records, features chart hits and dancefloor songs she has recorded with groups including Da Mob, Incognito and Musique.
