Ripeness is all
Article Abstract:
The less familiar version of Shakespeare's 'King Lear' is tougher and richer than the version which is widely known, according to director Peter Hall. He is using the former version for his production of this play at the Old Vic in London, England. He regards this as a more exciting play to work on than the traditional version, and also believes that it is more compulsive as a piece of theatre. This text differs in many ways from the traditional version, including tonal balance, meaning and characterization.

Death becomes her
Article Abstract:
Death can come very suddenly and have a catastrophic impact on a person's life, according to theatre director Gail Edwards, who is currently directing Webster's 'The White Devil,' a play which gives a harsh picture of death, for the RSC. She is very interested in the language and imagery of this play, and believes that Webster's fascination with violence will appeal to modern audiences. She has gained a strong reputation for having a bold approach to directing.
