Robert Beckinsale

Geographer Robert Beckinsale gained a First in Geography at Reading University, England, in 1929, and then completed his London MA in 1935 and his DPhil at Oxford, England, in 1949. He began his working life as a teacher at Chipping Campden Grammar School in 1930, and then lectured in geography at Saltley Teachers Training College in Birmingham, England. He was appointed to a Departmental Demonstratorship at the Oxford School of Geography towards the end of the second world war, and remained at the university until he retired in 1975.

Sir Robert Lickley

Aeronautical engineer Robert Lickley studied at Edinburgh University, Scotland, and at Imperial College, London, England. He joined the Hawker Aircraft design office in Kingston, England, in 1933, and in the mid-1930s was involved in the project design of a single-seat eight-gun monoplane fighter. He was chief project engineer in the development of the Hurricane, Sea Hawk, Tempest and Typhoon during the second world war, and in 1951 became Chief Engineering and Technical Director at Fairey Aviation.

Ha! Robert Altman gets his own back
Article Abstract:
Robert Altman directed 'The Player' to portray the film industry as it really is with bad treatment, deliberate mismanagement and chasing after money and success. The film is a satirical expose of Hollywood, originally a novel by Michael Tolkin. 'The Player' features 65 famous filmstars inluding Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Jack Lemmon and Burt Reynolds. Altman, 67, is famous for 'M*A*S*H', which made more money than any other film, but he did not receive any income from the television series.
