Saddam's double snub for UN
Article Abstract:
Iraq is said to have ignored the UN instruction to notify the United Nations Iraqi-Kuwaiti Observation Mission (Unikom) of plans to move equipment and violated the UN Security Council decision not to retrieve arms. Iraq plundered arms bunkers and dismantled five warehouses over the Kuwaiti border. Before 1990 this territory was Iraqi-controlled, although technically Kuwaiti since 1951. Unikom's 300 members' aim is to report trespass over the boundary to UN.

Iraq stalls over Bush ultimatum
Article Abstract:
US President George Bush gave Baghdad until 9pm Jan 15, 1993 to permit UN flights in Iraq. President Saddam Hussein of Iraq gave permission for the flights but said the safety of the flights could not be assured. It was therefore not clear whether the US demand had been met. The Western ultimatum also required Iraq to depart from former police emplacements inside the Iraq-Kuwait border. Unannounced renewed strikes would be made if Iraq did not comply.
