Article Abstract:
The shampoo and conditioner sector has been enjoying a robust market performance in 1998, as sales reach the 317 million pounds sterling mark, representing a 25% revenue increase compared to the previous year. Much of this gain is attributed to the increased sales for standard shampoo products, which accounted for 75% of the overall market. In the conditioner sector, the highest growth rate was registered by intensive leave-in products, which represented 80% of the entire market. Procter and Gamble continues to acquire a larger share of the market, followed by Elida Faberge and L'Oreal.

Products launched between 1997 and 1999 include Revlon's Charlie Sunshine, Estee lauder's Clinique Happy, Sanofi's Yvresse Legere, Unilever's Contradiction.
