Sir Alex Gordon
Article Abstract:
Architect Alexander Gordon was articled to the Swansea Borough Architect in 1935. He studied part-time to pass the RIBA Intermediate Examination as an external candidate. He served with the Royal Engineers during the second world war, and then studied at the Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff, Wales. He became a partner of T. Alwyn Lloyd in 1948. Following Lloyd's death in 1960, he established his own firm, Alex Gordon and Partners.

Glynne Jones

Conductor Glynne Jones was born in Dowlais, Wales, in 1927. He studied at University College, Cardiff, Wales, and began his working life as a music teacher at the County Grammar School in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.

Critic and poet John Stuart Williams was born in Mountain Ash, Wales, in 1920. He gained a First in English at University College, Cardiff, and became an English teacher at Whitchurch Grammar School.
