Sir Michael Tippett
Article Abstract:
Composer Michael Tippett did not show natural musical talent an early age. He experienced difficulties in gaining his degree and learning the techniques of composition at the Royal College of Music in the 1920s, and undertook further study there in the early 1930s. However, he began to show that he would be a very distinctive figure in British composing. His reputation was firmly established with the 1941 oratorio 'A Child of Our Time,' and his composing career grew rapidly in the 1960s.
