Thomas Sutcliffe
Article Abstract:
Actors can be described as 'best known' with a reference to a work that many people will recall. This is a journalistic convention which has been used 1,262 times in national United Kingdom newspapers over two months. The usage of this description implies that someone is well-known, but not very well known, and it would be inappropriate to describe Bill Clinton as best known for being US president. There are drawbacks to this description since one may be remembered for something one would prefer not to be remembered for.
